My company has bought many of these units to deploy in remote offices. To make life easer I attempted to manually edit the configuration settings file with the proper IP address for all the different offices.
I edited the file with the IP address that I wanted to use (only changed the IP address, no other changes were made). The IP address that I used was on the same subnet as the PC I was using. After the file was uploaded to the NAS it did the normal reboot. On my PC i got the normal count down screen. My browser then redirected to the new IP address that put in the config file but the page would not come up.
I took a look at the NAS and dive and network lights were on as normal but the tall status light was blinking. I attempted to power down the unit with the power button but there was no response. I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in. The unit turned on with out me pressing the power button and after waiting for 2min the same light pattern was happening as before. I then tried the reset button on the back of the unit. Pressed while it was on, pressed it while it was off, held it down while the unit was off then plugged it in while holding the button. Nothing worked. still same light pattern and no response form the unit.
The NAS is hardware version A2 and the firmware is 1.01
I emailed tech support who informed me to call tech support. Gave them a call, had to leave a message on voice mail. That was a week ago.
Has this happened to anyone? Has anyone successfully edited the config file? Any suggestions on how to get mu unit working again?
Thanks
