DIR655 & DAP1522 Connection
« on: May 13, 2010, 11:34:23 PM »

Both DIR655 and DAP1522 working fine with internet connection. However, I am unable to assign static ip addresses to any of my computers. The DIR655 does the DHCP for the entire network. DAP1522 is set up with static ip and as an access point.

Both DIR655 and DAP1522 are connected via ports. Whenever I try to assign a computer a static address I get the warning that "multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network (such as an intranet or the internet). They will not function properly when the gateways are on two separate disjoint networks. Do you want to save this configuration?

All my wireless computers use the DAP1522 for internet access. DAP1522 has static IP 192.168.0.196, same subnet Mask, and default Gateway address of DIR655. DHCP server is currently off. MAC filtering off.

DIR655 uses DHCP with address range 192.168.0.100 to 199 and subnet Mask 255.255.255.0. DHCP reservation is on.

Do not understand why I can't assign static addresses to computers and why the warning.

Any help would be appreciated. ???

Just give your computer a static address and forget about the router.

Sorry question was not stated clearly. I just want to assign static ip addresses to all the devices I have. However, the DIR655 and DAP1522 do not permit me to assign static ip addresses. The DIR655 is set to DHCP and the DAP1522 has a static ip address and set as AP.

You mean pre-set static addresses in the DHCP-screen? Kinda unclear what you mean. Worst case: You set hard ip-address in client-computers themselves, outside of DHCP-range...
