I just purchased and installed D-Link DWA-552. I downloaded the latest driver ver 1.60 dated 11/05/2009 from D-Link web site and used that to install DWA-552. It seems do work well. No complaints. A day later Windows Update showed this driver update:
"Atheros Communications Inc. - Network - D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop Adapter… Atheros Communications Inc. Network software update released in September, 2009."
I did not install it because driver I had installed is ver 1.60 which is later version.
Questions:
1. Should I stay with the latest driver updates from D-Link web site (ver 1.60) and ignore Windows Update or are the drivers from Windows Update better even though they are not the latest?
2. Why would Windows Update recommend a driver that is not the latest when I have, as far as I know, the latest driver already installed?
I am a bit confused at why I am getting illogical driver update choices from Windows Update and not knowing what to do.
