Need Help with setup
« on: June 07, 2010, 01:38:12 PM »

I did do a search but Im having some problems getting an optimal set up.  I have 3 xbox 360s that are wireless, and 2 desktop computers running vista wireless. the computers and one of the 360s have wireless N adapters, the other 2 360s have G adapters.  I need to know the best way to set up the router to give the best extreme signal to the wireless machines. I have called technical support multiple times and each time they have me change things around but nothing seems to have any effect.  I lost connection to one computer completely and then they had me change back to WEP security to fix it.  With the WEP on, I seem to be having little to no connection on the 360s that are farther away.  The thing is before I called about that one computer not connecting, those 360s connected flawlessly and I Hardly ever lagged.  Can anyone here help me set up for optimal performance please?  I am not computer savvy so I would need in depth explanation.  Thanks in advance for any help :)

Go thru the GameFuel sticky at the top of this post. It works well, however I haven't had any experience with having more than 1 or 2 xboxes on Wifi. I have a buddy who has 1 and his son's is using standard G mode only on 2.4Ghz. If you are using N adaptors for yours then I would try using the G and N only mode at 2.4Ghz. Use WPA instead of WEP. It's all in the sticky. Let me know if you need more help.

Ok thanks :)  I see where it says I need to go to Advanced/Gaming and enter IP address.  Do I need to do this 3 different times since I have 3 wireless 360s? Also...I dont think I'll be getting to these changes today. Will try in the morning.  I've literally been on the phone with support 12 times today and its taken 6 hours.  I need a break.  Got one xbox working ok and I think I'll spend the rest of the night shooting people in ODST since I can't shoot the dlink support team lol

Skip the Gaming section of the sticky, thats for PCs. Theres no need at this time. Just use the Gamefuel information. And yes, you will need to add a GameFuel rule for each xbox you have connected. PM me if you need to and I'm on XBL too. Hope the sticky helps. IT works well. Will be interesting to see if you can get all 3 boxes on WiFi and all game at the same time. LOL.

GO thru and add the Static IPs one at a time first. Once you have them added, then add the gamefuel rules for each.

Ok I have absolutely no idea what a static IP is lol.  (Sorry to be so computer illiterate)  Is that something I have to create or is it already on each xbox?  Also someone directed me to go to portforward.com, and when I went there it got even more confusing. They also said xbox has somewhere around 4 different ports that need to be open. Should I scratch the portforward thing completely? My brain is starting to really hurt.

Lol Mjp we will help you :). Anyways you must create a static up for all three xbox 360 units. How? well its easy just follow the sticky. Once you set it up for one of your console just repeat the process for the other two console.

Back to having no connection. I wish I knew what support had me change this morning to make my signal get so weak. This sucks!

Since you saved the config file yesterday, and you did save it right? How about doing a factory reset from the web page under Tools/System and see what happens. You'll have to set up the WiFi again for a network. Just do a reset and set up the Wifi and see if you get the same prob. I am curious on what they did.
