Zonealarm will block SharePort even if you have set the Trusted & Internet options to "Allow" under both Access & Server. Without additional setting, SharePort will not be able to detect the USB device.
For Zonealarm 8.0, what you need to do to turn off Zonealarm first, let SharePort to connect to your USB device, then note the IP address used. Run Zonealarm again, select Firewall->Zones, and then click "Add", then select IP Address, an Add IP Address window will open, goto the second choice IP Address, type the IP address, in the Description, type "SharePort" and click OK.
Your SharePort should then be able to detect your USB device even when Zonealarm is on.
