DWA-130 rev c detects networks but won't connect
« on: August 01, 2010, 11:09:11 PM »

I have multiple systems in my home, running all kinds of different os'.  I also have two dwa 130, rev c.  They mainly function for connection on a WinXP SP3 and Win 7 32 box.  Both have worked fine for approximately 6 months.  After that time, both experienced the same issue of seeing, and reporting wireless networks available, but also not responding to any attempt to attach to them.  When clicking the "activate" or "connect" buttons in the manager, no changes would be reported in the manager.  If we exited the manager and use windows to manage, the same would occur, with no response from a "connect" command.

We resolved this on the Win XP box by deleting the rtl6192u.sys from c:\windows\system32\drivers, and pointing device mgr to the file of the same name within the driver download box.

I have tried this same action on the win7 box with no luck.  I have also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the utility manually, for every driver version I could find.  I have also tried system restore to no avail.  Swapping the adapters, the issue follows the box.  The many times of uninstalling and reinstalling have not affected the issue in any way I can detect.

A random possible relation, this does appear to have started after we began watching netflix streaming movies more regularly on both of these systems.

With this random item I just remembered I plan on uninstalling silverlight (because I think it wanted to update just before this started) and doing another uninstall/reinstall.  Any other suggestions would be welcome.

finished uninstalling silverlight, no luck, though I have found that if I uninstall the d-link application, and point device mgr to the driver, that the windows wireless manager at least tries to connect, though it does fail, and can't give any details why.
