While watching videos being streamed by TVersity on my PS3 wirelessly, the PS3 says disconnected from media server, then a few seconds later says disconnected from access point. Why does this keep happening? I have a wireless set up with a basic WEP security. The remainder of the wireless settings are set to factory. Why can't I stay connected without interruption?

What wireless mode are you using? Mixed mode? What happens if you use a single mode like G only at 2.4Ghz? Can you swtich to WPA or WPA2 Personal instead of WEP? WEP isn't a preferred security as it can be hacked. Let us know if this helps.

Yea I was going to tell him change from WEP To WPA/WPA2 - Personal. That is what I use and it works very well. Also make sure the PS3 is in range within the router. Also Remember that if you play games online they would run so much better via Ethernet rather than wireless.

ok so I changed from WEP to WPA. I switched to G and 2.4 Ghz.  Now the connection seems to last a little longer than it did before but still cuts out from time to time. I updated the FW to 1.22. No change.  Also I bought a PSP and it cannot connect at all. Wanna smash some router.  Why no work for sony products?

I have a PS3 and play games just fine wirelessly from one room away, no lag, 20mpbs connection.  Do other things have problems besides the TVersity on the PS3?  What about other computers connected wirelessly in a similar area?  I haven't messed around with the PSP, but are you sure it supports G mode?

PSP does not support wireless G just for your info ehh just B now u know:) so therefore, change the router to mixed wireless B,G, and N.

He can also switch to G and B only if he is not utilizing N it will be pointless to broadcast it. Please keep in mind that the router does work and it is really a good router. I don't really understand why so many people have so many problems with it.

There's a skewed perception that the router always has issues from the board posts, most people don't come here to brag about their good performance (just a few of us do) and there's probably tons of them out there that are fine out of the box and people just leave them be.  I've always wondered what the real percentage of issues is vs total routers out there..

Hi Chris...I wanted to mention not using N (only B and G) , but really who doesn't use N these days, right?
I don't know why people are even complaining about this router, I have this one and the DIR-655, both great performers, both have the latest firmware, and both rarely go down....guess I'm just lucky, or I just know how to configure them really good.

I don't use N. Mostly because the connections I care about are wired. I would have just gotten another 4300 but when my 4300 broke (it fell and the WAN port broke as the RJ45 got ripped out) they were only selling refurbs, which I didn't want. Your right though, except for a few odd bugs, I love the router.  My only complain is the complaint I have on all routers, they should really focus on a cooling system. Maybe intergrate passive heat sinks into it. It can get really hot.
