HDMI connection problem

I'm not sure if my new DSM 750 is defective.  I can't get the unit to recognize the HDMI output to the television.  The HDMI cable works with my DVD player, so I think it's not a cable problem.  My LG HD television has 2 HDMI ports and I've tried each one with no signal.  I had a Western Digital Media Center connected to the HDMI so I don't think the problem is with the HDMI jack on the television.  I can only receive a signal from the DSM 750 when using a component cable.  Is there a setting I'm missing?  Thanks for any help out there.
