Troubling Connecting DGL-4300 to DSL-2540B
« on: July 29, 2010, 02:09:07 PM »

I have searched all over for my answer but to no avail.  I recently purchased a DSL-2540B and have it up and running.  I want to connect my DGL-4300 to it and place it in another part of the house to provide better coverage to all the rooms.  The DGL-4300 has FW 1.6.  I have already turned off the DHCP for the 4300 and tried assigning the static IP address that some websites have suggested, but still nothing.  In fact, after I did that I had to do hard reset to get it running again.  I pretty new to trying to expand networks so I would really appreciate some help on how to connect the 4300 to the 2540B so I can use both routers' LAN and the 4300's wifi.  If you are able to provide help, please be as specific as possible on steps.  I am ready to start from scratch.

Thanks

***UPDATE***

I was able to actually find the "Quick Router Setup" download on D-Link's website and ran that.  But it was the companion program "Network Magic" that automatically configured my 4300 to run with my 2540.
