Slow upload speed
« on: July 27, 2010, 07:18:00 PM »

      Hi guys,
just got the 4500 the other day. hw-a2 fw-1.21 out of the box. DSL no internal modem or router. running 3 xbox and 2 desktops. 1 xbox hardwired and both desktops. 2 xbox and 1 laptop wireless. I followed the gaming and gamefuel sticky. All connections work great. Download speed is 25.5 mbps with or without the 4500. Upload speed is 1.0 mbps with and 5.0 mbps without. This is the only problem so far. Maybe just needs a tweak I have not done? With all the storys here I'm not sure if I should upgrade the f/w. As I said all the connections are running great, especially the xbox. Sorry for the long post , just wanted to give all the info I could. Suggestions? Fixes? Ideas? Just stfu your doing fine? Thanks in advance.

v1.21 was known to have issues, but only on internet hang and random reboots. Not sure if your uploads are effected. I would keep going on the loaded FW and see how things goes. If you really feel the need and want to try it, load up v1.22 and see if there is a change. Let us know how it goes.

It's going now. I unchecked the automatic up-link speed box and manually entered 6000. Now I'm back to 5mbps upload.

Ya I was told to try using manual up-link speeds instead of Auto Detect. Seems to work better. I set mine for 2048.

Odd enough, I think this might be caused by something as simple as how people power cycle  their equipment. The router does the upload test for the first 30seconds of connectivity. If the modem is still powering up at that time, you get false data. Manual is a good work around though..and no real downside unless you have your connection performance fluctuate alot.
