I'm ready to scrap this thing!
« on: October 14, 2010, 08:27:41 PM »

why must anybody be a rocket scientist to configure one of these? i realise there are protocols for security and such, but tech support blows big time, (them being from canada or the US might help the language barrier) i tried to explain to her my problem, and after 10 mins, she blamed my provider and cut me short! 3 times!!!!
if i hook my DSL cable directly to my desktop, voila! no trouble, hook up router, my desktop can get to my internet service no trouble, but not my laptop, via wireless! my laptop sees and can connect to the network, but i cannot get my internet service through it! the manual also does little to help in troubleshooting...like why is the indicator for the internet lit up "orange" when it should be "green"...lady on the phone could not help either.
been struggling here now for 8 hrs, and this thing is super close to a hammer!
oh, and i upgraded the firmware to 1.24, no help that was either! chose to reset to factory settings, nope. my provider helped me through everything he could, but nothing on his end failed, all the checks he led me through checked out. >:( >:( >:(

Do you not know that first line tech support are "script readers" with a list of predefined questions / answers.  And most telephone centers are outsourced over-seas where English is a second language.

It is a hint to potential buyers that there is no input from Dlink on this forum.

If you call something "Beta", I guess you can just ignore it.

This is awful ... I'll post my experience, now that I've exhausted a search in
this forum for some actual answers to the problems.
