DAP-1522 Blinking Orange LED in Bridge Mode
« on: August 15, 2010, 09:06:35 PM »

Can somebody please state categorically what the blinking orange LED is supposed to do when first turning on this unit.

With the initial Push Button Setup as in the Quick Install Guide it states to only connect it to a power supply no other cable.

The guide gives the impression that this blinking orange LED continues blinking for evermore to enable you to use the button the side to connect to a network.

Thanks.

Who knows why it blinks?  I use my DAP 1522 for my TV and DVR connection and hide the 1522 it behind my TV. So I can't see it.   Many people have complained....

I was trying to establish how this device works when first supplying power to the unit.
I wasn't asking why it blinks while operating.
I was asking if it should continue to blink at initial setup when power is first supplied to the unit as indicated in the Quick Install Guide.
The only LED showing is the blue power-on LED. The orange LED stops blinking - is not steady - NO ORANGE LED is showing at all.
Therefore you can go no further to get this device to connect to a network.
To get the orange LED to blink an ethernet cable MUST BE CONNECTED to the DAP-1522. This is not stated in the QIG.
I eventually managed to get D-Link Support to show some concern with my problem and was finally told that the orange LED did not continue to blink unless an ethernet cable was attached.
I pointed out that the QIG was wrong. I was told that the QIG is not maintained by the technical support team but they get updated all the time. I don't believe this to be true as the only QIG for this device is version 1 and is two years old.
