I'm interested in purchasing this router. But before I do I had a few questions to anyone who owns this router.

1. Is this compatible with windows XP?
2. What are the common problems associated with this router?
3. Any suggestions on a better router for my house? (3 stories with 2 laptops and 2 desktops.. Also my cable internet provides speeds of up to 12mbps)

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just from my experience:

1. Yes, have 1 Desktop PC upstairs on 2nd floor wireless running XP SP3.

2. I haven't had any issues with mine.  It is an A2 hardware version.

3. Mine runs 2 stories 1 wired desktop, 1 wireless desktop (2nd floor) and 2 wirless laptops that roam around the house.

Routers don't depend on ther OS used, so do the math

Have a look on this forum. Personally, I have none.

Nope. Hard to say if the router will bring the expected results since those depend also on the environment. But looking at the 3 stories, you might a repeater (whatever router brand used)

I'm in a two story and this router serves up my internet just fine. It does however have problems with streaming video on the lan. There are posts in several forums including this one on this router's video issues.

Your two stories is your video issue.
Getting the small http packages for webpages transmitted over a weak connection is not really the issue. Most webpages are < 100 Kb, a bad connection and the TCP/IP package resend will not be noticeable. But you need a reasonably good connection to get intensive video streams to play without hickups. So two stories of concrete is usually killing for those things since you will notice the resends from the hickups.

Wireless routers are not miracle devices that penetrate inches of concrete...

You could have mentioned that you were talking about a wired connection since these issues mostly occur with wireless connections.

Even with my limited connection streaming video is no issue, both wired and wireless.
There must be something in your router or network setup causing this. Or you have a broken 655.
