Help with Mac drivers

I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.8. I've installed the 4.0.0.10 drivers successfully for my DWA-160. I get great speeds and everything seems to function normally.

The question I have is; is there any way that I can close the DWA-160 utility without losing my connection. Currently if I close it, within about 10 seconds I can no longer access the internet and I lose my IP address assigned by my router, and the adapter says it's not connected in my Network settings.
