Printer problems
« on: September 06, 2010, 04:56:29 AM »

Hey all.........
I am installing my printer on port 4 of my DGL-4100 and have run into all sorts of problems.  The printer is an HP C5180.  When on port 4, it never appears to the network and I never find it when I Search Printers.  The HP software also never finds the printer either.

I am quite a newb at more advanced router stuff, so can anyone tell me what im doing wrong???

make sure your printer gets an IP address from the router or assign an IP address of 192.168.0.x to it.

Would I add the printer via the "Add DHCP Reservation" field in basic settings of the router config??  If so, how can I determine the IP address and MAC address??

Sorry...........im a newb

Do the following:
1) on the configuration page of the router, go to Status>Device Info.
2) Look for your printer on the LAN Computers section

If you are not seeing your printer there, contact the manufacturer of your printer and seek advise on how to assign an IP address to your printer.

If you are seeing your printer on the LAN Computer section, post back so that I can give you recommendations to setup network printing.

Clark...........

I am only seeing my three computers in my network, but not the printer in the Status.........Device Info.........Lan Computers section.

I do have an IP address via the printer system report.

Also, may I know the IP address of your computer?
