Directory Cache software?

is there any software avilable that can chache dirs & file names:? with 2 dns 323 boxes / 4 drives 1.5 gb each it takes quite a while 2 list everything. 4. any suggestions (im also running a fw wd live hd boxes 2 access vieos off these drives

If you could take the time to elaborate a bit about your setup, how you are listing the files - and what exactly is taking a long time, I will try to help.

You need to also state if you want to cache on the DNS-323 or your client.  If on the DNS-323 the file system/samba already cache them and the DNS-323 only has a limited amount of memory and CPU to do such caching so the benefits might not get what you want (by telling it to cache more you can actually slow things down), and with an "extra" cache program this wouldn't be transparent to your client software.  If you mean to cache on the client side then that is really a question for whatever OS/client you are taking about not the DNS-323.

lost most control of my fingers, body, have constant spasms & tremors (post-polio) now throat Cancer ,so pleaqe bear with me, it hurts like hell 2 type or move(but i ain't dead yet doggitt!)


please excusethat post now that i'm able 2 remember a little (mem damage from radiation) that was kinda stupid. i can't buffer dir listings 2 the wd hd live unit especially with all computers off. what was i thinking

sorry, i have major mem loss/damage & i completely forgot  most of my techical training some is coming back at least knowing that part.

2bad these boxes are so slow i get bout 20 mb/sec max not bad but i use all hugh files iso, etc even my bakups are huge, anything  faster out there?  4 back up i now use 2 - bare 2tb drives in a dockinig station on the EsTAT port with Gene backup pro.
