Cisco AnyConnect + DIR-655 router + Linux Mint failure
« on: November 03, 2010, 03:58:58 PM »

I recently upgraded my router from an old D-Link wireless G router (DI-524) to a D-Link wireless N (DIR-655). With the old router, I was able to VPN in Linux (Mint distro) via the Cisco AnyConnect client to my work's network without a problem. After upgrading the router though, I started experiencing some problems with the VPN... I can still connect fine, but within 30 seconds the VPN connection "hangs" - I don't get any error messages, but I no longer receive any traffic.

If I use the AnyConnect client in WinXP, I can stay connected without any problems. So, to recap:

WinXP + DI-524 + AnyConnect = works
Linux + DI-524 + AnyConnect = works
WinXP + DIR-655 + AnyConnect = works
Linux + DIR-655 + AnyConnect = fails

(I tried using OpenConnect as well with the DIR-655, and that seems to fail with the same problem.)

Somehow, the combination of the DIR-655 + Linux is causing some problem for me... Worse case I guess I just return the router, but I thought I'd ask the community first. I know it's a stab in the dark, but has anyone had any similar experience? Or would anyone have an idea as to what could cause the VPN in Linux Mint to stop receiving bytes after a short amount of time and how I might go about diagnosing/fixing the issue?

Thanks =]
