I've had a DNS-323 running for multiple years now, set up by someone else. I had no problem seeing it from my old Windows 7 Pro laptop, and I have never had to do anything to manage or administer it.
My laptop was stolen and now I have a new Win 7 Pro laptop that I am setting up, and I cannot see the DNS-323 at all. I have quite a bit of data on the NAS that I need to restore to my new machine.
I've been going through these forums and have not yet figured out a successful solution.
The Easy Search utility cannot see it at all. I tried pinging the default IP address but it timed out, and the person who set it up for me has not yet gotten back to me to say if he remembers what he changed the IP address to. I've set my LAN Manager auth to use NTLMv2 if negotiated. I have no other machines on the network so I cannot confirm if the NAS can be seen by any other machines. The drives seem to be OK because both lights are still blue on the front, and not amber.
Any additional suggestions? I am not an experienced network or Windows admin - I haven't had to do things like this for years.
