New DIR-615
« on: March 30, 2008, 06:42:26 PM »

I purchased this router yesterday. I was looking for something to work with XBox live. My old router was a Netgear Super G WGT624 which was fine other than XBox live issues. I live in a large home and had that router placed on the first floor in the center of the house. With my laptop upstairs I had full signal in every room. Now that I've replaced that router with the DIR-615 XBox live works wirelessly but I no longer have the great signal strength upstairs that I did before. I've checked all the settings and everything seems to be fine. So far I'm not impressed with this router and I'm considering taking it back. Do I have any options to try and increase the signal ?

Thanks

Edit: I also forgot to add that it has completely dropped all connections several times. Laptops didn't even show the router for about 15 seconds.

I took this back and got a DIR-655. So far I'm much happier with the DIR-655.

You made the right choice for a gaming router.

I upgraded to the beta firmware right away. I'm using A2 and it seems very nice so far. I just played Halo 3 with it wirelessly and it was perfect.
