Wireless Setup Menu disappeared after upgrade
« on: December 14, 2010, 09:33:00 PM »

I upgraded the firmware on my newly acquired DAP-1522 from v1.02 to v1.21 (the hardware ver is A1). But weird thing happened after the upgrade--the Setup->wireless network settings portion of the set up menu disappeared! I re-flashed the upgrade once more and it's still not showing. Reboot the AP--same thing!
Any suggestion as to what else I can try to figure this out? I need to set the wireless up manually since the set up wizard does not provide enough options for setting the AP in 5GHz-N bridge-mode correctly.
p.s. I have another DAP-1522 which is running v1.10 and is performing admirably.
p.p.s wanted to upload a screen shot of the "missing setup menu" window but don't think the forum here provide an upload link. Does anybody here know how?
Anyways, I've posted the same message at DSLReport forum and they do allow upload.
So you can check the screen shot there if you are interested.

Possibly your web browser. I was trying to access it via Google Chrome and had the same issue. Worked fine in Internet Explorer.

That's exactly the root of the problem. After switching to IE, the setup page displays correctly. Thanks for the tip. I would have never figured it out myself.

I noticed that too.

I just updated firmware on my two DAP-1522s from 1.10 to 1.31.  The one that runs as an wireless AP shows Wireless Network Settings on all browsers.  The one that runs as a wireless bridge shows Wireless Network Settings only on IE but not other browsers.

When I view HTML source code of the web page in question, I see there are JavaScript functions checking if the browser used is IE.  Why did D-Link even put browser sniffing code in there?  Just write standard HTML/Javascript codes so all modern browsers would work properly.

That's just doesn't make any sense, i.e. to check that the browser is IE, esp. when the previous version of FW worked fine on other platforms. Why do they want to break something when it was working before?

FYI. For those of you who use Firefox regularly, you can install a plug-in called IE tab. This allows you to switch to IE in place (in the same tab) with a mouse click. I assume there is a similar plug-in for Chrome.

This has been a well documented *known* problem since the firmware version 1.21 was released. You can not configure the DAP properly using any other browser other then IE. It seems like a really simple problem to correct and I am quite disappointed that D-Link did not fix it with the 1.31 release.

This is what happens when engineer's don't use the products they design.

I just purchased the DAP-1522 and have the same missing "wireless network setup" menus problem.  However I can't display it with IE (version 8 ), firefox, chrome, or opera.  I'm using it as a bridge and it is running version 1.21 firmware.  I backed the firmware version down to to 1.20 then 1.10.  Same problem in all browsers. Though folks here had it working with IE, I get a script error indication from the browser when I open the wireless setup screen.  The bridge is working, but it would be nice to know some of the settings it chose.
Anyone else have a problem with IE also?  Any solutions/thoughts?
