print server in bridge mode

I have a cable modem downstairs hooked into a wireless router.  Everything downstairs works just fine, and i can use wifi upstairs in most cases.  But recently i bought a network bluray player for upstairs, additionally i would like to bring my USB printer upstairs to my office.  Can i put this router in bridge mode to pick up the wifi from downstairs, and give me the abilities to both plug in an ethernet cable to my DVR and print to my USB printer from upstairs OR downstairs?  I don't wanna run a wire upstairs and I'm only gonna buy a router/bridge if will handle both issues.  Otherwise it just isn't worth moving all the furniture.  Is this possible?
