Can't get any connection what so ever
« on: November 30, 2010, 03:56:23 PM »

Except for being able to access the 192.168.0.1 admin page, I can't get a connection to the Internet.
I have a static IP address and after running the wizard and typing in all my settings to the static choice of my DIR-825, I get nathing. If I use the cable that went from my modem into the router and hook up my laptop directly to it, then it works (after I changed my laptop to use a static IP address).

It seems that my DIR-825 doesn't even get a valid connection to pass on. I can't use the Ping thing or look for new Firmware.

My laptop gets a nice IP 192.168.0.100 but i guess that happens even if the router dosen't have a connection.

I haven't upgraded the Firmware which is 2.01EU. Which version is the latest and where can I find it?
What's the difference between country Firmware Versions? Why can't one use a version for North America when you live in Europe? Btw, I live in Sweden.

When I switch back to my old DI-624 everything works fine (except that it drops the connection now and often, that's why I got the DIR-825).

Any suggestions folks?

Routers are not the device that will directly access the Internet.  You will need to have a DSL or cable broadband modem connected to the router's WAN port.  Then, you need to set up the correct method of Internet access:

Cable modem -- DHCP ??
DSL modem -- usually PPPoE style access with username / password  (provided by your service provider.)

I have my ADSL modem connected to my router. I have a static IP address, gateway, dns etc. No username/password. As I wrote, my old DI-624 works fine.
