DGL-4500 and Problems with Mac Filtering
« on: July 20, 2008, 02:25:54 PM »

Does anybody out there have a problem trying to setup Mac Filtering to allow certain mac addresses?  Every time I type in the mac address that I want to add and click the add button it eventually times out and then I have to reset the router every time in order to get it to work.  This happened on F/W 1.02 and I upgraded to 1.10 and it still does the same thing.

I called tech support and talked to a senior level technician and she explained that it is a software problem plaguing this particular model of wireless router.  I asked if I was unlucky and could probably get an exchanged router and she said that you will probably see this issue with most routers of this model.  So I was wondering if anybody out there has gotten Mac Filtering to work successfully?  You would think this is a major issue as I would think there would be quite a few people out there that use mac filtering, so I'm really debating whether I should just return the router all together, exchange for another one and roll the dice, or wait for a fix.  Does anybody know if and when the fix for this issue is going to be released if it really is a systemic issue.

There is a brandnew 1.10 code. Have you tried that?

Yeah I tried that and still had the same problem  :( I couldn't add any Mac Addresses.  One other thing is why can't you name the entries for the different Mac Addresses that you enter?  Seems like another step back considering the DGL-4300 has the ability to do that.  I guess this is a feature request to add that ability to name the entries like on the previous Gaming router.

When I was using FW 1.02 I did not have any issues adding MAC Addresses. My problem started after I upgraded to FW 1.10 last night.

I use Network Magic and it was avble to apply the network lock function (aka. Mac Filtering) with no problem prior to 1.10...

I hope they fic this issue soon. This is really not good for this kind of router that costs as much as this one does...
