Hi,
I am no fan of whining on these forums, but I fear I have become one of those people in regards to Shareport.
It worked very well for me with XP, in that all I use it for is color (photo) printing with my Canon iP4500 and on occasions where the kids need color output for school work. As I am transitioning to Win7, it has become more of a problem for new main system (especially) than I feel is worth my time.
I have had to bite the bullet and buy a USB/Ethernet print server to do the job properly and not be hassled any further with shareport's quirks with Windows 7 X64. Is the problem with Microsoft/Windows 7 or is it with DLink and the Shareport software's interactions with Win7 X64 ? Like many others, I have spent waaaay too much time these past several days trying to figure out some workaround for Shareport, but I was not able to get past the software issues inside Shareport.
So, as I go from pc to pc here at home to install the smal software program to use the new print server, I am removing the shareport client as a precautionary measure to reduce the chance of any additional conflicts.
So far I can only think to myself.....Why didn't I do this sooner ? A) I was being cheap. An extra $25 for a print server was $25 too much at the time. B) I pride myself at getting things to work in spite of themselves, but when software is buggy, no techie ig going to overcome that.
