Scheduled backups file dates not kept, change to current date
« on: December 22, 2010, 11:59:37 PM »

On DNS-323 I keep two hard drives full of pictures and movies of family and friends.  I don't use RAID because that is for redundancy not a backup.  Whenever I download my pictures from a flash card I copy to both hard drives.  It's kind of time consuming so I started to look for another way to do it.  I just tried using the scheduled downloads and copy from volume 1 to volume 2.  I set it for incremental backup.

The problem is the file dates on the files change from the actual date the file was created to the current date on all the files.  This is not good and makes the idea worthless.  I use the file date to know when I took the movie or picture or wrote the document.  I don't want the date to change just because I copied it to volume 2.

Other then doing the backup with a computer, anyone know anyway I can have the DNS-323 actual do this?  Anyone know of an add-on that can do this?

You can install Fonz' Fun-Plug and use rsync to do what you want.
