How do I turn gamefuel on?
« on: January 13, 2011, 12:14:57 PM »

Might be a silly question but I recently bought the DGL 4500 and installed using the CD...I have no idea where to find gamefuel though. Is there something I'm missing?

Review the Gaming and Gamefuel Stickys here in the forum for your needs. Let us know if you need more help.

Also can you let us know what ISP service do you have? Cable or DSL?

And what modem you have, make and model?

Do you know if it's a stand alone modem or does it include a built in router?

Thanks for the response...I did take a look at the sticky's but tbh I am not familiar with a lot of the terminology.

I'm using comcast high speed cable atm...will be switching to knology.
Modem is Ubee D3.0
It does NOT have a built in router.

I have an xbox 360 with COD playing 24/7 from my roommates and my gf and I play online MMO's with the occasional shooter. We are directly wired through the router but the xbox is not.

edit: also as a side not....I saw that the router offered 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz. I think the default 2.4ghz is enabled. Anyone mind shedding light on the difference/what is best?

Thanks for helping a noob out :p

Ok, the Cable modem should be good then.
Are these MMOs you play online done on the PC or on game console?

I would just follow the sticky. Unfortunately Gamefuel just can't be turned on and it works. Doesn't happen like that. Just to many variables to take into consideration.
You need to open a Internet browser and put in the following address; 192.168.0.1 unless you have changed it. Enter in the password for the Admin account. If you put on in. If you didn't just hit enter.

I would just follow the sticky. The titles in BOLD or BOLD Underline are sections of the routers menu that you'll be needing to navigate to in browser.
You can use the Gaming and Gamefuel sticky for PS to help you set up a Reserved Static IP address. Once you do that for the xbox and PCs, you can switch to the Xbox live sticky to set up the xbox.

Well in some ways it does work without configuring it, but its just very light handed unless you configure it otherwise. Configuring it is sooooooo much better, and your sticky is very good, but my question is he having problems without configuring it? What kind of issues are you having?

As for Knology...hmmmm. Not liking what I see. Seems like a pretty small operation in Florida. And its possible they charge more if your using more then one connection. Which means you might have issues getting the router to work. But then again I can't tell, their site is confusing.

Maximum speeds of 6Mbps downstream and 384Kbps* upstream
Use your own cable modem or receive a Knology cable modem. Provision one computer with a NIC network interface card. Plus all of Knology's standard High Speed Internet service features!

What does that mean?
