Help Please
« on: December 30, 2010, 06:09:00 AM »

I need some help. I used to have my dir615 secured. I had to reset it today and now after I set up the secure wireless, windows now sees the secure connection and also a insecure connection called "dlink" How can I get the "dlink" one to go away so no one sees it? I just want the one secured connection. Please help, I live in a flat with other students and dont want anyone with a wireless device to see the "dlink" connection..When I go into the router settings, it only shows my secured one ,nothing about this unsecured connection..Thanks

Edit: Fixed it....Please close..and Archive..better just delete...thats better.  If oyu want a short laugh, I turned off my router and the "dlink" was still there, Da!!!me bad...Reason for my confusion was, there has never been a dlink device for the 5 years Ive lived here, until today...Christmas brought a neighbor a new router and he was setting his up while I was fixing mine..I was reading his network and not mine.....All good now..

Don't feal bad, I got that beat. I went from a DIR-615 to a DGL-4500 and gave my old router to my brother. Set up the new router with the same wireless settings but was having issues where the wireless would just cut out. I did a factory reset, but still saw the old SSID. Turned off the router..still saw the old SSID. Unplug everything, and scan with my phone..and detect a wireless signal coming from inside my brothers desktop...WTF? Ends up he took my old router I gave him and put it inside the case of his desktop...to "make it wireless". ::face palm:: So yea, things like that can happen. Good times :-)
