D-Link support forum
« on: December 24, 2010, 05:31:36 AM »

I recently purchased D-Link products (DIR-628 router and DWA-160 Adapter) to replace my Linksys.  The only reason was because they were older is all.
But I am somewhat disappointed at the D-Link support site and products.  I have been in the computer/comm. field for a long time and it seems that the support functions here seem to leave a person to their own efforts.  What I mean by this is, if you download drivers, they tell you to install them and that's it.
My recommendation is, the directions should be a little bit better than what they are.  If a person with little technical experience downloads the zipped driver file, they would not what to do afterwards. Most of them would not know to take the files out of the zipped files and then install.
but mostly, most other firms have a piece of software included to help the person install the correct driver.
A person should not have to re-contact the support staff to ask what to do next with the zip file.

I am just a little disappointed that so much is left up to the user to try to figure out.

I like a support experiance that provides me what I need and stays out of my way. Alot of those driver install packages your talking about install other programs and things you don't need. I see D-link more for the power user and not the novice, so it fits. Also, why are you posting here? You have the wrong forum.
