DirecTV2PC conflict on DIR-655
« on: January 05, 2011, 02:49:51 PM »

Hello,
I recently purchased a DIR-655 B1 (firmware 2.00NA) but have had no success in getting DirecTV2PC to work with it.  My DVRs connect to the internet and each other, and I can ping them, but the D2PC program cannot find them on the network. The 655 works fine with everything else on the network.

Long story short, I reinstalled my old Linksys WRT54G and the D2PC program works just as it is supposed to.  Can anyone tell me what entries in the routers setups to compare to find what might be causing the conflict between the 655 and D2PC?

DirecTV no longer has technical support for this program and no one seems to know anything whatsoever about it - which is a shame, because it is really nice when it works.

The DLink rep I spoke to said that they need information regarding the port the D2PC program uses in order to try to reconfigure the router to work with it (for port forwarding, I assume), but I don't know how to find this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the DirectTV2PC requires a password to access the service? If so probably the Linksys router was configured with it. If you do know the password you can set it up on the Dir 655 by going to the routers login which should be 192.168.0.1 than go to Basic > Wizard > Lunch Internet Connection Setup Wizard. Just follow the steps and than choose which type of password and username it uses. But if your DirectTV2PC does not need any type of login information try going to Basic > Network Settings and disable "Enable DNS Relay" That should do the trick. If not let me know. Just to let you know those navigation are for the DGL 4500 but I believe they should be the same for the Dir 655. Have a great day.
