I have read all the threads explaining that the SharePort utility does not exist under Linux and that it is therefore impossible to use USB devices off of the DIR-622 under Linux. But I recall a note, or FAQ, or something from D-Link saying that one could use the USB port in an HTTP address in Linux configuring the printer connected to the USB port as a line printer under CUPS, or the Linux distro's print setup utility. Something like http://192.168.0.1/lp, or something like that for the line printer address.
Does anybody recall such information from D-Link about this somewhere ? Has anybody been successful in setting up a USB printer off of the USB port as a line printer ( LPD ) under Linux distros ?
Yes, I know I should have bought a network printer, considering I am using my Laserjet from more than one computer connected to my router, although at different times, but since I did not ( the printer is an HP P3005d ) I would still like to get this printer working under Linux without having to connect it directly to a single computer. In Windows it works fine with SharePort but I also boot to various Linux distros.
