Migrating to new drives
« on: January 09, 2011, 08:05:57 AM »

I have two 1TB drives in my DNS321.  I'm not configured for RAID. I use Disk1 for live data and then Disk2 as a backup drive.

I want to move to 2GB drives. To do this, can I pull Drive2 and plug in the new 2TB. Will the DNS321 know the drive is new and needs formatting?  Then I would copy all from the 1TB Drive1 to the 2TB Drive2 and repeat the process for replacing Drive1.

Yes, that's the way the DNS-321 is designed work (both for replacing the drive manually or in the event of a HDD failure).
