Went 1.02 to 1.23na
« on: January 12, 2011, 06:51:35 PM »

was having connection issues after 2 years of great service. decided to firmware update.

now its forever "Connecting... Please Wait" under status

it only does this with my comcast modem i tried a clear modem and it worked no problem. the comcast modem used to work with 1.02 and it works with the provided comcast router.

did i make a mistake updating firmware? i did 1 update directly from 1.02 to current.

Why did you update? Was there an issue with the router?

Do a factory reset after you shut off the cable modem and turn it back on. It should get a new address from the Cable modem just fine. Been no issues with connections.

I updated firmware because suddenly my connection was awful and comcast was blaming the router, saying they had no lapse in connection on their end.

i was nervous at first since I had heard a ton of horror stories once people upgraded. It now works thanks to the factory reset, strangely. Thought I had tried that already.

Right now my speed is pretty weak and I can only hope a real ISP will enter Hartford CT soon to cure my speed issues. I am not sure if one of my roomates has a virus, or an ftp site, or torrents or what but my 10mb up 2mb down turns to .1 .1 all too often.

one minute after being connected

five minutes after being connected without doing anything.

ill be jumping around lagging like crazy in all the online games i play on the ps3.

is there any way to cap connections per second without blocking them so I can keep them from hogging it all?

Wow, Ya, ISP will say anything to make themselves look good and not take the heat for being there problem. Just proves that updating doesn't alway fix the real issues. if your on cable, I would make sure your cable lines coming to the house don't have any splitters or keep them to a minimum.

Do you rent the cable modem from your ISP? I would check on buying your own. There better ones out there and if your ISP will support it, try the Motorola SB 6120. ITS GREAT! I have one here. 10Mb down and 1up all the time. Some others on here are doing more. It's very stable and works great with the 4500.

If your gaming I would review the gaming and gamefuel stickys for PS as they will ensure your getting a good connection up thru the ISP modem. After that, who knows, however you'll be stable and streamlined with in your house.

Unfortuneately there isn't a way to cap speeds on this router for users. However you could put them in gamefuel and set the priority low(100-200) while setting your systems and game console at a higher priority so when your both online your systems get priority traffic over what ever there doing. That about all I know. Let us know how it goes.

You said you have a Ps3, just follow the sticky guide that's in these forums and you should be expecting awesome speeds on your Ps3! I wrote the guide because I wanted more speed and it really does works, try it for yourself. Kudos to FurryNutz for the help and for posting it! After all he is the man with the FurryNutz.
