DIR-655 Intel 5100 65Mbps HELP!
« on: September 03, 2008, 08:58:05 AM »

Okay.. I have a Intel WiFi link 5100 and a DIR-655.  I updated drivers/firmware and combed through all the settings.  I'm set to N only.. auto20/40..  WPA2(AES).  And I'm only getting 65Mbps as reported by task manager.

I followed the information in the sticky and have gone through all my settings in the manual configurations of the router.

Is there a better program I should be using? Something I'm missing or not doing properly?  Is it the Intel card?

Feel free to use advanced networking terms as I'm near the end of studying for my CCNA.

I have the same problem with an Acer 5930G laptop. I noticed that whenever I make a change to the wireless driver configuration, the Wifi Link 5100 connects at 130Mbps for a second, and then falls back to 65Mbps.
My Macbook doesn't have that problem, it reaches 130Mbps quite often.

Well, I fiddled with the driver advanced settings today and got it to bounce between 108Mbps and 120Mbps, which while it isn't optimal there is a floor between me and the router.  Not sure if I'm capable of better.  Still looking for more input though!

I managed to get 150.0 Mbps... with the channel width for band 2.4 (Auto), fat channel intolerant (disabled), roaming aggressiveness (5. Highest), and throughput enhancement (disabled)
