Hiya,

I have a DIR-615 D4 (Original firmware V1.00VG), I tried to install DD-WRT using all the guides online and here, but no matter what i do, the router does not seem to successfully complete the flash?

Heres what i did;
- successfully entered emergency room
- uploaded the bin file
- power light turns off (but link to machine light still on)
- left it for a good 10 mins to be sure, and still no life out of it
- power cycled and router goes back to emergency room

So i then tried to revert back to the V1.00VG;
- uploaded bin file
- power light stops flashing and stays on solidly (link to machine still green)
- left it for a good 10 mins to be sure, and still no life out of it
- power cycled and router goes back to emergency room

Does anyone have any pointers for me to try?

Things to check in order to make sure you're doing it right.

1. Use Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 for the flashing operation.
2. Use a WIRED connection to the router while flashing.
3. While in emergency room your computer's IP needs to be MANUALLY configured to 192.168.0.2
4. The correct file to flash DD-WRT is ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/12-24-10-r15962/dlink-dir615d/dlink-dir615d-factory-webflash.bin
5. After flashing is done (timer goes down to 0), set your computer to obtain IP AUTOMATICALLY and open http://192.168.1.1

This is the process i followed, but still no life?

To be honest, I'm at a loss here. I've never heard people not being able to flash the neither the original firmware nor DD-WRT from the emergency room.

I heard of people for whom it didn't work in Firefox, or Chrome, but it worked in Internet Explorer. Btw, where did you get the original 1.00VG firmware from?

I got it from ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/Virgin_Media/Firmware/DIR615_v1.00VG_B02.bin

Ive got a new router from VM now, which is now running DD-WRT, and i followed exactly the same process and it worked a treat.

To be sure it wasnt just me, it tried on the old router again, and instead of the power light going solid like on the new router, it just switches off on the old one, so there mustve been something wrong with the old router.
