UPnP Control of DSM-750
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:14:45 PM »

I am using the DSM750 with  Nevo S70 Wifi remote that uses UPNP to control the DSM and a TwonkyVision MediaServer.  Everything worked properly on the DSM-320, however, I have the following problems / anomalies with the 750:

1) Music: No matter what song I select in a folder/navigation tree, the first song in the folder plays and then playback stops when the song is over.
2) Videos play absolutely fine, no matter which video is selected.
3) Music: ID Tags and album art don't display 100% of the time, and 50% of the time are inaccurate

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Are you going to the folder and pressing play to queue the whole folder for playback? As for the ID3 tag info what is used to add the information to your mp3 files?

Yes - I can queue the whole folder and it still doesn't work... I can queue by Genre and no difference.  I have used iTunes to tag all the MP3's.  The control device is a NevoS70 via DLNA/UPnP.  It works fine if I use the original Dlink remote, just not remove control via the network.  The DSM-320 works PERFECTLY in the exact same setup, there should be no reason that the 750 will not work as it's a more advance unit... This same problem appeared in early firmware versions of the 320 and was later corrected.

I can forward this information to product management, however this device is not supported by the DSM-750 So I can't say what the results may be for the use of the NevoS70 universal remote on this unit.

As for your ID3 tags in your MP3s please try a programs such as mp3tag v2.41 it seems to works well for me adding my metadata to the files. It can be downloaded free. iTunes may use a form that is only used in iTunes when tagging files.

I guess I don't understand... the DSM750 is DLNA compatible/certified as is the NevoS70!  They should work together...

The DSM-750 is not DLNA certified, However it does follow many of the standards and should work properly with most DLNA certified devices.

And there's the rub, it doesn't and, in fact, works quite differently than the DSM-320 from a control perspective.  In other words, the DSM-320 is the defacto standard and works 100% with these devices, but somehow the DSM750 is very different and does not conform to the same control specs.  Can you let me know if/when an updated firmware is scheduled for this device?
