Bricked DIR 655

Hi,

After upgrading from 1.11EU firmware to 1.21 (with securespot), the router stopped picking up the DNS from DHCP provided by my cable broadband provider. I downgraded to the latest 1.21 without securespot after reading posts on this forum. All seamed promising while i was slowly reconfiguring seetings, DNS setting had been picked up, when they stopped again.

So i decided to drop back further to 1.20. The firmware uploaded and the router rebooted, then rebooted, and rebooted ....

I'm suspecting that this is not a good situation. I've tried powering down, reset button to no avail. Any suggestions?

Not sure if I recall correctly... Press/Poke the reset button/hole for >10 seconds (cannot recall how long) may restore/recover to factory default.

I may be wrong though... cannot recall which product I had that has this function of recovery.

Will check the manual and see what the combination is.

I left the router off over night, next day plugged back in and booted up ok, although with default settings. First thing i did was to set admin password. Rebooted to apply the change and once again kept on rebooting....

Tried it again this morning and once again looking alright - but had to leave for work and couldn't try anything.

I wonder if its overheating or such like - would seam strange after only such short period of activity. Will see if i can revert to the 1.11EU firmware take it from there...

If that behavior continues, I'd seek an RMA. Thats not normal behavior.
