Unable to change iTunes server folder setting
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:29:22 PM »

Hello

My iTunes server was working for a small folder of aprox 20 songs. I changed the folder to a larger one of aprox 300 gig and refreshed the server.  iTunes was no longer able to detect the itunes server.  I click on the browse button to try to change the folder but every time I click on OK, it does not update the folder location. I tried to changed volumes and I am stuck at my 300 gig folder.  I am unable to test smaller folders.  I clicked and saved on root.  refreshed and restarted the dns server but no luck

I have read other messages and users eluded to non music files may be causing the problem.  I have wma and flac files in the large music folder.

I have firmware 1.05 running XP with 2 WD 1 Gig green drives formatted normal and not raid.

I saved my config settings.  Could I edit it with a text editor and force a new directory
/mnt/HD_a2/Music

Additional insight or assistance would greatly be appreciated

Thanks

Do you get an error if you try to refresh? you may need to reset the unit in order to select another folder at this point.

So the UI is no longer accessible? Power down the unit and remove the drives then power it back up and access the UI and disable the iTunes server. Power it back down and insert you drives once again and power it back up. Are you now able to use the device properly minus the iTunes server?

I just got this problem too today. Added 28GB of Music to a directory, added it to the iTunes server web GUI and clicked 'enable' and then i got a half rendered webpage. Tried to reclick on a link and it was unresponsive. After about 90 seconds i could click on refresh and got back to the login page but then subsequent attempts to do the iTunes Server thing just result in the same timeout.

I would recommend including folders that contain Mp3 and m4a files only. These are the only two formats that can be properly supported on the iTunes server currently.
