Shared Folders

Ok I've gotta ask someone as I can't seem to find a solution.

What the hell is going on with the shared folders system of the dns-323?

e.g. i've got 2 users, and 4 folders I want to share

Volume_1 (4tb - 2x2tb raid 0)
Folder 1 (Shared)
Folder 2
    Folder 2.1 (Shared)
    Folder 2.2 (Shared)
Folder 3 (Shared)

and I've got 2 users
User1 & User2.

Why is it when I assign folder permissions to User1 and User2, they both have to access it via different network share names?!

e.g. if I assign User1 and User2 to Folder 3 I get the following

User1 - //Volume_1/Folder_3/
User2 - //Volume_1/Folder_3_1/

Wtf is up with that?!
Anyone got any ideas?

I think i'm going mad aswell, as it would appear that I can only have a user in one group at a time...

got 2 groups

SharedUsers
and
MediaUsers

if I add my 2 users into SharedUsers, and then try add one of them into MediaUsers, he gets removed from the first one! :/ very confusing. Any one have any idea whats going on?
