Can't map network drive anymore
« on: December 28, 2008, 04:06:39 PM »

All of my Windows machines can no longer see my DNS 323 within the Windows network.   I also suddenly stopped seeing all the other machines in the network and was getting a message that I don't have privileges to browse the network even though I am the administrator.

I can still access the box via FTP, but I have had to install NetBIOS/IPX on my other Windows machines just to get them to see the other on the network.  I can no longer map my drive to the 323.  While the web interface comes up, it no longer shows up in the Windows network.  Please advise.

Also my router is DGL 4300.

Do you have the same antivirus product installed on all of your machines?  Perhaps an update has changed something...  just guessing; there has to be a common cause if all of your computers are affected.

You might be right.  But I suspect it's a Windows update.  I'm not running any anti-virus software.

PS3 is unaffected and can still see the DNS 323.

After rebooting it, I can now see it listed in the Windows network but it still tells me I have no access privileges.

I had the same problem, I was unable to see or map the dns-323 drives, even my Router i count not find.
It was only when I used Wi-Fi I had the problem, when I used cable to the router, I had no problem..
Im running Vista+SP1 with all updatets.

I had no problem what so ever with XP...

I solved my problem, but turning on uPnP in the Router! and rebootet everything (Computer, Router & NAS)

also take a look here, I also posted my fix there : http://wiki.dns323.info/information:known_issues

It all went back to normal after 5 minutes after rebooting.

Now the only machine that can't see it is Linux(Ubuntu) and it used to be able to.

install LLTD on your xp box, I believe it's at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4f01a31d-ee46-481e-ba11-37f485fa34ea&displaylang=en&Hash=dW414xrlPzm6RQpJo9XJLvKEiwaoQTiVmzu%2fS27cFEvEBS8YzaN4RxhXYHR6L%2b6n0gzweKXMmxejBwKWChzo9Q%3d%3d

Or search for: Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder (KB922120) on microsofts website.

Then goto configuration on the dns-323 > advanced > lltd > enable > save & reboot your dns-323.  Let me know if this works for you.
