ISSUE: Wireless clients that reassociate after a router reboot fail to get a DNS assignment if DNS Relay is off

EXPECTED: Clients are assigned the same DNS Servers that the ISP assigns to the router.

TEMPORARY WORKAROUNDS: Configure the router to use DNS Relay, assign static DNS servers in the client configurations, or manually set the uplink speed in the QOS Engine of the router.

This is a timing-dependent issue.  My theory is that the router and client is not completing the DNS server assignment in a wireless DHCP conversation if the router hasn't finished its boot-up sequence.

When the QoS engine does a WAN speed measurement (default) and DNS Relay is off (not default) and the router is rebooted following a configuration change, some wireless clients do not receive the ISP DNS servers in their DHCP assignment.

The system that experienced the problem was 001DE02AA0FD, a linux system.  I've also had this problem with a single XP system at 00909679D2C9.  It has not occured yet on Vista (where the timing of wireless reconnection is a longer cycle, perhaps).  This does not occur on all of the XP systems that I have and I am not certain if it might be intermittant, but the two systems that it has occurred on are both connected via the wireless.  This has been noticed twice over a week's time.

In the XP case, a DHCP Release / Renew cycle provided the DNS addresses.
In the Linux (Ubuntu 8.10) case, disabling and reenabling networking provided the DNS addresses.

The log is only somewhat helpful.
