I have 2 PCs and a Laptop in my house that are all hard wired to a network
Set up DNS-321
Easily found on main PC running Vista32
Then easily found on laptop running XP SP2
For the life of me, cannot find on second PC running XP SP3
Any suggestions?

Even before the DNS-321, I had troubles getting this PC to share folders and was never successful, hence one of the reasons I purchased the DNS-321.

The PC connects to the internet no problem via ethernet, and I have pinged it from the other 2 PCs on the network, so I am at a loss ...

Not sure here either. I have a laptop here with XP Sp3 that connects to a DNS-321 in our lab without any issues. Are you able to see it on your UPNP device list? Is it in the same work group?

Definitely in the same workgroup - I've checked a painful number of times.

How do I pull up the UPNP device list? and do I do so on the PC I'm having probs with?

Goto "My Network places" and make sure the it is set to show Icons for network UPnP devices this will be an option under "Network tasks" on the left hand side of the explorer.

So I can't seem to Ping the DNS-321 from the one PC I'm having problems with

I checked my firewall settings and it has the D-Link Easy Search Utility listed as an exception and is checked off

I even turned off my firewall and tried to Ping, still no luck

I updated the LAN driver to most current.  Can it be a hardware issue? The port is connecting to my router and internet no problem ...

Any other suggestions?

Okay, here goes.  I've done more research, and here's what I can tell so far:

My setup is as follows:

Cable Modem -> Wired Router -> HTPC
                                         -> Laptop (wired)
                                         -> Wireless Router -> DenPC
                                                                   -> DNS321
                                                                   -> Laptop (wireless)

All items are on subnet 255.255.255.0, same WorkGroup and running DHCP

HTPC and Laptop are running XP; DenPC is running Vista

Running wired router on 192.168.2.1 and wireless router on 192.168.1.1
(I had difficulty running wireless router off wired router (ie: daisy chaining) until I read instructions that told me they had to run on different IPs.  Still not sure that is true, but it worked)

HTPC IP = 192.168.2.101
Laptop IP = 192.168.2.100 (wired) and 192.168.1.102 (wireless)
DenPC IP = 192.168.1.101
DNS321 IP = 192.168.1.100

DenPC can ping all
Laptop can ping HTPC and DNS321 but not DenPC
HTPC can ping Laptop but not DenPC or DNS321

At the end of the day, all I care is that all PCs can ping DNS321, hence my problem is my HTPC not being able to ping DNS321

At first I thought the problem was that I was running 2 diff IPs, and that the HTPC was on a diff IP than the DNS321.  But if thats true, then why can DenPC ping all?

So far, I've:
- updated NIC driver
- disabled firewalls
- released and renewed DHCP on HTPC

I really appreciate any help you can offer as I am at my wits end and have spent a fair amount of time on this ...

All device should have the same IP address range to properly communicate (192.168.1.xx or 192.168.2.xx) I would recommend setting you wireless router to work as just an Access point. Disable DHCP in the unit and set it to the same range as your router. So if you router is 192.168.1.1 set the wireless router to 192.168.1.254 and do not use the WAN port LAN 1-4 only will be used. Make sense?

So I am still at this, and I will never get the hours I spent on this problem back!!!

I decided to ditch the wireless router for now.  Instead, I bought an 8 port switch and connected it directly to my wired router.  I have now connected all PCs and NAS in the 8 port switch, and can successfully ping each from each.

But now, my HTPC, the trouble maker, still cannot connect to the NAS!!!  It can now find it using the Easy Search Utility, but when I try to map the drive, it asks me for a Login id and password!  WTF?  None of the other PCs asked me for this!  And I don't have any Login ids or passwords on any of my PCs or the NAS.  I left the NAS as default -> admin, with no password.

Furthermore, I can access the NAS through the UPnP server and browser. 

I'm really at my wits end with this thing!  Any thoughts?

Disable your anti-virus software and you should be able to connect ok.

However I still can't see with Easy Search - however - it doesn't seem to be a problem once I do the above.
