DIR 615 range

Hi,

I just got a D-Link DIR-615 N router.  I need my network to reach approx. 200 yards down to a neighbors house and I was hoping that this router would help reach that distance, but it dosn't seem to.  I have a Linksys WRT54G router that I would like to rig up as a wireless extender.  Is this feasible? 

Also, what is the DIR-615's range?

I'd guess 50%/50% chance you can do 200 yards if there are no obstructions or foliage or other wi-fi in the area. 

Some versions of the Linksys WRT54G can take 3rd-party firmware which might repeat signals of your DIR-615 and you might be able to install that at an intermediate point to exchange signals between the two houses.  Or install the DIR-615 on the exterior of one house (weather protected) and the Linksys on the exterior of the other (same).  Directional Antennas might be a good help here.

Even now I'm thinking "too far" but if you're the experimental type, it might get you one step closer.

thanks.  the Linksys is a WRT54G version 8.  I think i might try DD-WRT on that.  I just don't want to brick it.  and we live in a rural area where my network is the only one in range.
