seagate 1.5tb freezing problem

While 1.5tb drives are not supported on this yet, there is a problem with some of the 1.5tb drives Seagate has made.

as you can see here : http://techreport.com/discussions.x/15837
and here: http://forums.ncix.com/forums/index.php?mode=showthread&msg_id=1868880&threadid=1868880&forum=103&product_id=33167&msgcount=8&overclockid=0#msg1868880

It seems the drives are experiencing random freezes on any Mac or Linux formatted partition (like the ext2 on the dns 323)

so once 1.06 is released there may be a bunch of posts on random drive lockups, this will be the reason for it.

edit: to clarify i am experiencing this issue with my 1.5tb in single drive mode with the dns 323. fw1.05

You have to update the firmware on these drives.  I upgrade my firmware from sd17 to sd1a.  I'm running a pair of them in raid 1 configuration on my dns-321 (and will on my dns-323 when the new firmware comes out).
