UPnP AV & iTunes Server --> Fail to Refresh
« on: December 04, 2008, 03:33:01 PM »

Hello,

I have been struggling with this issue for quite some time now and have gone through countless posts in this forum, but I have not found a way to make the UPnP or iTunes server "refresh" or "re-index" actually work.  Everytime I select a folder, no matter how small the contents of that folder may be, the "Refreshing - Please wait a moment" window opens and nothing happens...ever....no matter how long I wait.

I am on the latest firmware v 1.05, I have downgraded to 1.04 to test and I get the same result....so I'm back on 1.05....

I also notice that the firmware updates do not really happen the way I would expect them to.  For instance, when I downgraded to 1.04 I selected the firmware file, the DNS-323 web browser informed me that the flash has started....it progresses normally for a while....then poof, my IE (or Firefox, I've tried both) refreshes to a page not found screen.....I then wait roughly a minute, re-enter the DNS's IP address in my browser, re-log into the web interface and have to manually invoke a restart to actually have the upgraded firmware version recognized.....the same happened when I went back to 1.05

This does not feel right to me and I'm thinking it could be what is causing several of the other issues I am experiencing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem with the latest firmware on the DNS-321. The auto refresh option seems to have been removed, requiring a manual refresh or reboot to see the newly added files.

It looks like some file in one of the folders is causing an error when refreshing. Try refreshing the folders located in the main folder and try an locate the folder containing the file file causing this problem and remove the file. It may be a bit of work but im pretty sure this will resolve your issue.
