It appears as though my DIR-655 is not broadcasting; however, when connecting via ethernet I am able to post on this forum. 

The WLAN broadcast icon is not on...does anybody have any thoughts on what the problem may be?

What firmware version are you running? Please ensure you have the latest one from our support site. Then reference the following FAQ on how to enable wireless. http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=2484

The FAQ I provided tells you how to setup WPA encryption. Follow how the image setup and the only thing you need to change for yourself is the SSID and the Pre-Shared Key.
