DIR-615 Firmware Question
« on: September 05, 2008, 12:48:47 PM »

My original network had 2 wireless routers (a Belkin 9230-4 MIMO {Main} and a Belkin 7230-4 {AP}) and worked great, but I decided to upgrade the network to N while I upgraded some of the systems in it.

I replaced the 9230 with a DIR-615 RevA1 and upgraded the firmware to 1.10 but was curious about the fact the firmware seems to be missing "loopback".  I have a WHS (Windows Home Server) on the network and the "Website Connectivity" section fails and gives errors about incoming connections (for the normal site and remote access).  From my understanding the sites still work correctly (I haven't tride viewing it from outside the network yet) but it's a pain to do some web design/hosting from the server without being able to view it via it's "true" URL and the errors in the WHS Console is kind of annoying. So the main question is "Are there plans to add Loopback to this model/rev or should I just switch back to Belkin and return my D-Link?" (I like the D-Link interface, but I've never had problems with Belkin over the last 8 years)

Thanks for any advice on how to either bypass this issue or if/when the firmware will include it.

I agree that a firmware upgrade is in order.  I really like this router, but not having the loopback feature causes a lot of heartache for Windows Home Server users.  I would think that a firmware upgrade should do the trick...I just hope that D-Link reads their own forums and takes action.  Please fix this issue.  Thanks
