Firmware 1.02 Screenshots
« on: December 27, 2008, 09:50:54 AM »

*Firmware 1.02*

First to the folks that claim that there is no FLICKR option on the screen I think it's time for your annual eye exam :P just kidding but seriously a picture is worth a thousand words.

Are you ready? Well here it is.

This firmware update even address the DNS issues that where presently associated with WPA2 where in the past it will connect to the PC but when looking at network status it would say DISCONNECTED now as you can see it says connected. Seems the data rate is faster as well live365 buffers almost instantly. I had almost given up hope on this box. I was actually using my ps3 to listen to live365 and purchased an external hot swap dock for sata drives that I was plugging in the ps3 to watch h264 hd content I tested the files on here and they play  ;D so I thank whoever was the first person to alert us here in the forums about this update HUUUGE THANK YOU. Anyway download the software from the FTP server

* For live365 streams I noticed it helps if you port forward port 8000* Improoves performance & buffering

I'm starting to wonder just what the difference in our setups are!  I am seeing only Live 365.  I am, as you suggested, also now seeing that "internet Connection: Connected" with the the new firmware, but that's where the similarity stops.  What could be making that difference?  This is totally weird.  Are there different chipsets in the hardware makeup of the DSM-750?  I am running Vista Home Premium x64, if that makes any difference (and I can't see how it would).

Nycx7, are you using the DSM-750 in Media Centre or Media Lounge mode?  I am using as Media Lounge and in this mode I am only seeing Live365.  Maybe this could be the difference?????
If using in Media Lounge mode which server you are using...WMP, TVersity, etc??
When did you download the firmware??  Maybe they reposted an updated version of the 1.02 firmware!!!!
Maybe location may play a role in this, I am in Canada.  Kitty, Nycx7 and nohelp are you living in USA, Canada or Europe?????
I hope these are not stupid questions as I am only trying to troubleshoot the problem.

I am also in Canada, and I also only see Live365. Not that I use any of this online stuff, but I wouldn't mind knowing what's going on here...

I am also in Canada.  We may be onto something here.  I'm suspecting this might be the reason.  Perhaps it "realises" we have Canadian IP addresses, and blocks the other services.  It is indeed true that most of the online media offerings aren't available to Canadian IP's.  On a side note, I contacted PlayOn about their new server/programme thingy, and I got a reply telling me the most of the content isn't available to Canadian IP's.  I feel so screwed  :-\

Alot of people have asked me what mode am presently in. Honest truth this unit is right out of the box and will never be used as a media extender. I flat purchased this unit to listen to live365 and to connect it to my sata dock hot swap drive unit so I can watch movie files, and pictures. DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT WHERE TO DOWNLOAD MOVIES, BLURAY RIPS ETC... these msgs will simply be ignored.

I am in the USA NJ to be precise. The unit was purchased Nov 7 from walmart.com
not connected to WMP,or triversy or anything like that.

This is the SATA drive dock of choice I use. Supports 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 drives

USA & CANUCK you both use the ftp server below the same firmware is for both USA & CANADA.
how do I know this you ask. go here http://support.dlink.ca/products/view.asp?productid=DSM%2D750#firm
and scroll down to firmware you will see this  notice the address says DLINK.CA meaning canada if you choose to download firmware 1.02 you will get a pop up window and notice the file location ftp.dlink.com

Dlink.com serves Canada,Usa, and Mexico so the same firmware covers these 3 regions. Now why you people dont have the option is beyond me download to a usb stick and reload the firmware would be my guess.

What changes have been done to the latest firmware for my DSM-750?

 Release Notes:

Version 1.02:

Added Flickr online photo service in Online Services.
Added support for Matroska H.264 video files.
Added support for FLAC audio files.
Enhanced the support for WMV HD files.
Remove the Yahoo Music icon from online services.
Added support for playback of videos using the MediaMall PlayOn service.
Control of SRT subtitles improved in MediaLounge mode. (User can control subtitles on/off, position onscreen, delay or advance subtitles for better sync, font color and font size.)
Support of SRT, SMI, SSA, ASS, Subviewer1 & Subviewer2 subtitles when played from a USB drive.
Support for WPL playlists on USB drives.

Downloading and updating via a USB stick was the only method of updating before the most recent update. My 750 would not connect directly to the internet.  So, I updated this way, but the firmware must realise that the IP address is a Canadian one, and thus doesn't display the added features, such as Flickr - that's only my guess, as I can see no other way to verify that the device is being used outside the US.  Therefore, I assume, if one is operating the 750 in Canada, one is screwed.
