Thanks in advance :) I got a couple of questions

1. I made the mistake of putting in my 1 TB Samsung drive in bay 2 (opps, didnt read the book lol) I just bought a second 1 tb samsung drive, and wanted to do raid. I was hoping to just move the first disk over and add the second, but I think I'm reading on here that might not work?


2. Anyone using this with Itunes? I can see the Nas in Itunes, but I have no idea how to get the music from the nas to my Itouch ? (I'm not a huge user of Itunes) I was hoping for a right click and send to Ipod or something like that? I can see all my music just not sure what I can do with it , when I click on the nas.

3. Bit Torrents, I'm using the torrent client with success, I was wondering if I should have port forwarding done for the nas? I'm getting average speeds of 10kbs downloading movies from Isohunt, I was getting 50+ k when I ran it off the pc. Im assuming I need the portforwarding. And when setting up the port forwarding (dlink wbr 2310) does it matter what I call the application? And for port I've always used 54321, can I change the port on the nas?

In theory - add the second disk in whichever bay is available, at the next boot when you log in to the admin interface it will prompt you to format the disk and there will be a checkbox that you can check for it to create a RAID1 array.

Does it work?  When I tested it yes - other folk have reported problems, so backup your data before proceeding - as a matter of fact, always backup your data.

Bit torrents - I'm not a torrent user - but - port forwarding is only required to allow a connection to be made from the outside coming in.  Bit torrent uses a client that connect from the inside going out.  I see no reason why forwarding a port would change anything other than to create another potential attack vector for a would be hacker.

A few folks I know very well use the DNS-323 /w iTunes.  Their observations have been that iTunes tends have issues with content that is more than 4 folder levels deep.

They additionally tell me that they have had to add the media content to the iTunes library whenever they want to have the media sync'ed with a portable device such as iPod.
