Trouble accessing the config
« on: February 17, 2011, 08:44:38 AM »

So I have this strange issue with accessing the DIR-825 config through 192.168.0.1 on my Windows 7 machine.

I can get to the login screen, key my password and hit Enter... I get a blank white screen and it appears to be loading (task bar), but the page does not initially load.  If I hit Enter a second time, the page loads immediately.  This happens on every tab/link with the config too.  I can click a tab or link and the page will go white and appear to load, but doesn't until I hit the enter key again.  I've disabled my ESET firewall and made sure the Widows firewall was off as well.  I've tried multiple browsers, all with the same issue.  Sometimes I have to hit enter 2 or 3 times in order for the tab/page to load. This happens whether I'm wired or wireless.  What makes this even stranger is that it only happens on my PC.  I can access the config on my MacBook Pro (Wired or Wireless) without any issues.

I'm guessing my router settings are okay because I can access the internet (wired or Wireless) without a problem.  I'm thinking there is something with Windows 7 (networks settings, filters etc...) causing the problem.  To be sure though, I've reset my router to it's factory defaults twice - the first time I reran the wizard installer that came with the router.  The second time I configured the router manually using my MacBook, but neither time did this resolve my issue.

I'm in the process of rebuilding an older machine which will have Windows XP Pro.  I'm curious to see if I have the same issues. Anyone else have this problem?  I'm not a networking guru, and I'm not all that familiar with Windows 7 (or Vista ), so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I might try adding static IP reservations for all of your devices to the router itself. See if that helps.

I've heard many things and experienced things with W7. Most of the time it works and I can log into my router just find. I haven't heard of something like this though. Seems like something in 7's networking isn't setup correctly or something is not making or allowing a full initial connection to the router which it should be. Should be immediate. If your Macs are connecting well and I presume your XP will also when you get that going, I feel it's 7 that needs some attention.

I would change out the LAN cable to test and pick a different port on the back of the router.

What is your ISP service? DSL or Cable?
I don't think the ISP modem could be doing this as your getting internet. Sometimes ISP modems can have the same IP address as the router, changing this to a 1.1 resolves this. I don't think this is the case since internet is working.

What 7 version are you using? I'm using 7x64 Ult.
