Hi there,
I've been using my DNS-323 for a while now, configured for drive mirroring (RAID 1).  The admin password appears to have been corrupted or something.  I was using the password before and all of the sudden it stopped working for me.

I've been reading in the forums that I can do a reset to factory defaults by pressing the button at the back of the unit for 15 seconds.  Ok, but what will happen to the RAID 1 configuration and the data?

I have all of the data backed up on various other drives, so I'm not too worried, but if I were to lose the data, it would be very time consuming to copy it all back.

Questions:
1.  Will resetting the the device remove the RAID 1 configuration?  In other words, after resetting, will the device not know that I had the drives mirrored?  And if not, if I configure the device to make a RAID 1 array, will it not erase the data?

2.  Can someone explain the best procedure for doing the reset?  Should I remove the drives first?  OR just one of the drives?  Will I have to configure it for RAID 1 again?  If so, will it recognize the array?

Just hold the button down for 5 seconds or so - it won't affect your drive configuration (which is stored on the disk) or your data (also on the disk) - it will reset the other configuration details - users, groups, passwords, ip addresses (if static) - anything stored in the battery backed memory.
